It loves bright and rather airy places, so it can also be exposed to the south, in full sun.
It resists the cold quite well, but in winter it is advisable to keep it sheltered when temperatures drop below 4-5 ° C.
Watering As always, water moderately and only when the soil is completely dry.
It is enough once a week in the warm season, suspend completely in winter.
It always blooms abundantly, even several times a year.
As with most Mammillarias, the flowers are deep pink and are arranged in a crown at the top of the plant.
Flowering lasts about a week, after which it is already possible to see a new “crown” of flowers ready to bloom.
It is one of the best-known and most widespread varieties of Mammillaria, and is commonly called “Rose Pincushion Cactus.
It is native to an area of central Mexico, at an altitude of almost 2000 meters. Its habitat is so limited and remote that, after the discovery of the first specimen in the 1920s, it was found again only in 1988.
