MAGNETIC BOULE Ø 6 CM AND FEROCACTUS EMORYI
Why choose me?
- I grow very slowly, so I don't have to be repotted often
- I'm fine both at home and in a rock garden
- do you like thorns? Mine are the biggest!
It likes very bright and sunny positions, even in the hottest months it can be placed in full sun for several hours.
It can withstand short periods of frost, but it's always best to keep it indoors and in a dry place when temperatures drop below 4-5 ° C.
Ferocactus needs more water than other succulents: from spring until the end of summer, therefore, it can be watered regularly, every 7-10 days.
As usual, check that the soil is completely dry before watering again.
To avoid burns and stains, pour the water only on the soil and not on the stem (especially if the plant is exposed to the sun).
It produces bell-shaped flowers up to 7-8cm wide, deep pink or bright red.
The flowers bloom during the day and close at sunset.
Native to the desert areas of Mexico and Arizona, Ferocactus emoryi produces a nectar that attracts ants. For this, it is common to find many near the base of the plant.
In turn, the ants help protect the cactus from other insects that could attack and damage it.
The main peculiarity of this genus of cactus is the presence of very robust and developed thorns: from this characteristic derives the name of “ferocious cactus”.
