In this article, we will explain why a magnetic board can make teaching and learning even more fun, with the help of magnets and magnetic toys.

Why use a magnetic board at school?

Compared to traditional slate boards, magnetic boards have multiple uses and several advantages:

Video projection boards with interactive projectors and writable magnetic boards

The KalaMitica Magnetic System project for schools was born in collaboration with Epson Italia.

During 2020, we worked on their specific request with the aim of producing large magnetic boards to be used with their interactive projectors and to create immersive classrooms for an even more engaging and interactive learning experience.

For this reason, we produced 150x120 cm magnetic boards. By placing two of them side by side, one can obtain 100 or 120-inch projection screens.

We developed three different solutions:

A matt white projection screen, not suitable for writing but perfect for use with interactive projectors, since the opaque surface does not create reflections and allows perfect legibility of the projected image.
A glossy white board, writable and dry-eraseable with whiteboard markers or liquid chalk markers.
A charcoal-coloured board, writable and erasable with chalk or liquid chalk markers, as an alternative to the classic slate board; less suitable for video projection, but perfect to combine with the white boards should a classic board be needed to complete the classroom.

Magnetic boards for magnets and magnetic educational games

Not just a surface for writing or projecting: the magnetic board can become a very useful teaching aid right from kindergarten onwards, in combination with magnets with the letters of the alphabet, days of the week, numbers and more.

Geomag, a major Swiss company well-known for their magnetic construction toys, also offers a very wide range of solutions that can be combined with our boards and offered to primary or nursery schools.

For example, a series of magnetic cubes with letters and numbers to learn to read and write, or the most popular fairy tales, such as "The Three Little Pigs".

Magnetic blackboards for vertical and modular furniture

It is a known fact that children grow up fast, and being able to adapt school furniture to the different heights of pupils is a very popular requirement.

With their bright colours and their fun shapes, our hooks can be positioned autonomously by each child at the desidered height, so that they can always have their coats and backpacks within easy reach.

The same applies to all other magnetic accessories and containers, which offer the possibility of creating modular compositions that can be modified as needed.

Ease of maintenance and cleaning

Another important advantage of having magnetic boards on the wall is that they allow easy cleaning and sanitising of the surfaces.

Should the need arise, simply remove the magnetic accessories, clean the board with appropriate detergents and put everything back in place quickly and easily.

With these wall solutions, you even reduce the need to repaint the walls!

Durability and sustainability

Durability for us also means sustainability. A high-quality product lasts a long time, does not spoil after only a few uses and does not become waste to be disposed of.

Sustainability is a goal we have been pursuing for a long time, even using recycled powder coatings where possible, with very low environmental impact and 80% less virgin raw material used.

In addition, all our packaging is FSC-certified, to make sure that the trees that gave us the cardboard come from forests that are controlled and managed in an environmentally, socially and economically responsible manner.

In addition to chalkboards with original and fun shapes that are also suitable for children, we offer a made-to-measure service that allows you to create customised and exclusive magnetic boards.

Our history leads us to address the world of furniture: our mission is to create magnetic boards on which you can write and erase, but above all that can become modular walls equipped with KalaMitica Magnetic System's wide range of magnetic containers and accessories.

However, the need to find solutions to avoid cluttering horizontal surfaces even in schools has pushed us towards this sector, which is full of new stimuli and possibilities.

Some retailers working in the educational field have sent us a clear message, a precise request for collaboration to make schools more and more innovative and engaging.
